I saw a very big, expensive ad in the paper the other day promoting Dr M’s book. As for me… I’m pokai after writing my book. So this is my ad.
- I need the money more than he does. In a nutshell, his bank account balance looks like your IC number. Mine looks like the number from a car number plate.
- My book only costs RM35. His is a whopping RM100. If you plan to read both our books, you might want to consider buying mine, and borrowing his from a friend who has bought it.
- With my book, as it is with his, RM1 goes to a charity for children. But considering our very different financial positions, and the sky high price of his book, I’m either giving too much, or he is giving too little.
- Now, now… but his book is 800 pages, compared to mine which is only 256 pages. So he had to price it higher to recoup his printing costs. But ask yourself this… do you really want to read an 800-page book?
- We read and talk about Malaysian politics for hours each day. Wouldn’t it be nice to escape from that for a change? And are you buying the book to be inspired by the man, or to find fault with him?
- I honestly believe his book will have one of two effects on you. It will either put you to sleep, or keep you awake at night. Either way, it’s not something to be desired.
- Haven’t you always wanted to read a book with an F four letter word as a title?
- Aside from taking a year and a half off to write from 9am to 2am each day, I designed my own book cover and website, did my own typesetting, applied for my own ISBN number, personally set up my Facebook fan page. Personally, I’d rather buy a book that was forged from the author’s own blood, sweat and tears, than from one who had made a living primarily from yours.
- I personally respond to every piece of fan mail I receive. (I believe each heartfelt letter deserves a heartfelt response. For now, I can only afford electronic means of communication, so please refrain from mailing me physical letters.)
- This is a person who has brought us where we are today. I am one who intends to bring us where we would like to be tomorrow.
