Down in the canyon
Sunday, April 22nd, 2001On the way back from class the day before, I took a little detour to Malibu State Park. It was gorgeous out there so I returned with Hui Chin the next day. A mildly cool day, we walked for a good 4 hours, stopping here and there to allow my feet the chance to mend themselves. We went in search of the Malibu Lake but gave up half way when we realized we would probably not make it there and back to the doughnut shop by 3.
What’s truly amazing about the Malibu State Park is that you’re walking at the base of several huge mountains that overlap each other. I think being at the base of the mountain is sometimes a lot cooler than being on the mountain itself because you can see how you compare in terms of size. You feel smothered, flanked by magnificence, almost insignificant, almost like a bead of sweat rolling down the cleavage of a large breasted woman.
